After the destruction of the city in 1917 by fire, the historic heritage is taken into account as a factor to improve urban space as well as a tool for shaping the desirable identity of the city. The plan by Ernest Hébrard, with its radical modernisation of the urban centre, inaugurated the selective and instrumental use of heritage. Monuments and historic city landmarks became the dominant reference points for the axis system of the city plan redesign. The straight ‘’diagonal’’ connections between them, were successfully the means of expressing their existence on a regular in other respects plan system.

The principal of the proposal is to provide viable urban space qualities through a continuous pedestrian axis where important monuments and significant buildings become the main background. At the same time, the circulation of vehicles in close and further area is reorganized.

Grasping from the idea of the city plan design after 1917, we implement a system of axis that connect directly the important buildings and monuments of our area.

Main aim through this urban walk is for every reference point of the system and every significant building to regain its free public space and differentiate itself from the rest built environment.
